How do you transform a global environmental message into a personal experience that motivates participation, sharing, and emotional engagement at scale?
An interactive global awareness campaign combining augmented reality, personalized digital content, and environmental storytelling to increase engagement around sea turtle conservation.

How do you transform a global environmental message into a personal experience that motivates participation, sharing, and emotional engagement at scale?
Mixed.Place developed an augmented reality campaign where every participant received a completely unique digital sea turtle. Users could discover, personalize, experience, and share their turtle while learning about marine conservation and participating in a global environmental movement.
Millions of unique turtle variations generated worldwide.
Global participation driven through personalization, social sharing, and environmental engagement.
As part of SodaStream's global environmental initiative to protect sea turtles and raise awareness about ocean conservation, Mixed.Place created an interactive augmented reality experience designed to build a personal connection between users and the cause.
Rather than asking people to simply support a conservation campaign, participants were invited to adopt a unique digital sea turtle of their own.
The platform was capable of generating millions of completely unique turtles, ensuring that no two participants received the same turtle. This transformed the campaign from a traditional awareness initiative into a highly personal experience that encouraged emotional engagement and social sharing.
Users could discover their turtle, experience it in augmented reality, learn about environmental challenges facing marine life, and share their turtle with friends and family.
The campaign successfully combined environmental education, personalization, social participation, and emerging technology into a global experience that increased awareness while creating meaningful engagement with the brand and the conservation message.
